Gimmie More... Feedback!

Posted Oct 21 2008 12:19am
I picked up the new SHAPE magazine the other day because one of my favorite ballroom dancers was on the cover. Julianne Hough! Of course she looks skinny and fabulous. And blonde. Who wouldn't love her? Anyway I was reading the article about her and she said that she prefers to do free weights rather than machines to help her tone up all over. (me too! who would have thought we have so much in common?!) AND she also kind of creates a little "routine" to go along with her workout. It makes it fun and easier to get through.

So this morning I jumped on the treadmill to run- and realized it was not going to work. My allergies are killing me, I wake up and I look like I've either been hit in the face with a pan or have been crying for days. Puffy! Pale! Red eyes! It was really humid out and my treadmill is on the enclosed porch- but it was still sticky in there. I jogged for about fifteen minutes and gave up. Battle over. And then decided to try Miss Julianne Hough's little workout routine.

I grabbed my two pound weights and put on.. Gimmie More by the Brit. I have to tell you, this song is perfect for doing squats, twists, lunges, the beat is right on and as long as you move to the beat- your heart rate jumps up and up! So I did: core twists (remebering the Hip Hop Abs sculpt routine), squats with punches, lunges with arm raises, deep plie squats with punches, more core twists. A few hip hop body rolls in there and I was groovin!

The next song on rotation was Feedback by Janet. Yea this one's a good one too! I repeated the same routine, bouncing along to the music. It was brilliant! I was workin it! My heart rate was definitely way up there and I have been a little sore today. I had to get those muscles back to where they were before! Strong! I have a feeling I've been eating too many sweets and not enough power foods. Gotta cut back a bit on the carbs!

I was totally inspired and am currently searching my MP3 player for some more tunes to work out to. I highly recommend doing this- it's a great way to pass the time while working out. I only did 7 minutes of it and I was feeling the burn- imagine if I had kept at it? There we go- the perfect workout!
