Cleaning vs. Disinfecting

Posted Jan 26 2009 5:05pm

Think they are the same thing?  Nope, they are not.  So many people use disinfectant to clean.  This helps create half dead germs that become resistant to our war against them.  As mentioned in earlier posts, we use Benelife Green products.  They have a cleaner and a disinfectant.

In order for a disinfectant to work, you must wet the area and leave it in place to dry.  Every type has its time frame.  In order to kill germs, you have to clean the dirt then spray and leave on the disinfectant.

If you’re wiping and cleaning up quickly with disinfectant you’re missing the point and causing more problems.

The most germ laden places?  It’s NOT the toilet.

  • The telephone receiver and mouthpiece (this is most important since your mouth could touch the surface directly; make sure you get all the phones in your home)
  • Refrigerator and microwave door handles (also very important since you will be eating with the same hands you used to touch the handles)
  • Kitchen and bathroom counters and faucets/sinks
  • Light switches
  • Computer keyboards, remote controls, and handheld games
  • Door knobs
