Busy Little Bee...

Posted Oct 02 2009 3:07pm

I have been a busy, busy little bee this morning. I "nanny-ed" all morning, cleaned, entertained, etc.... Then, when I got home at 2:15 I inhaled lunch and vaccummed my apartment. I am sitting down for the first time all day, and I am spending this time blogging. Don't you people feel special? :-) Since I wasn't able to eat lunch until 2:15, I am so glad I decided to have oatmeal for breakfast. I switched things up a little by adding BLUEBERRIES to my usual GF oats and cinnamon combo. (Normally I use blackberries. It was a CR-A-ZY morning! hahaha) I did munch on an apple around 11:00. That definitely helped tide me over, too. My little charge's lunch was much more noteworthy than my own, an Ian's Egg & Maple Cheddar WaffleWich. I bought these for her as a part of my ADHD/Gluten experiment. Ian's Wafflewiches are Wheat, Gluten, and Nut Free. She is a VERY picky eater, so I was unsure how she would respond to them. The WaffleWich stuck to the plate which made her instantly leery. HAHAHA I love the unsure look in her eyes! Guess what? It was a success! Since we have a coupon we will definitely be buying these for her again. Her only complaint was that the Maple Cheddar Cheese was "weird" because it smelled like syrup, but didn't really taste like syrup.
Pros: Gluten and Nut Free; Convenient; Kid Friendly; Good Taste
Cons:"Weird" Cheese; Only 2 to a Box; Cost
The Verdict: on a scale of 1 to 5 YUMS; 4 YUMS; I will definitely buy these for her again. Wafflewiches are a perfect quick meal for a child, especially one "fighting" being on a gluten free diet, because they taste "normal"!
My lunch was not nearly as exciting. It was basically the same thing as yesterday, Steamed Broccoli topped with my Kale Marinara Sauce and Tofu Ricotta. I finished off with an Oikos 0% Plain Greek Yogurt topped with Blackberries. The perfect finish to a yummy meal!
Tonight, I will be making Tamale Pie for the in-laws. Keep your fingers crossed that it's a success!
BTW: Did anyone catch Conan's first night hosting The Tonight Show? I thought he did a great job! (Well... until I fell asleep that is... I'm an old lady...) He is so funny!
Alright... TTFN!
