A Good Find

Posted May 06 2009 1:33pm

Last week when I went to the Fresh Market on the hunt for Papaya, I also found this Farmer's Cheese. I was so impressed that it actually said on the package that it meets the SCD guidelines. I have never seen anything that said that on the package. Today, I had some on celery with raisins. I really like it and it is a good replacement for cream cheese. Sadly, I am out of papaya now and can't find any frozen where I live:( I guess I'll make another trip to Fresh Market this week.

I still have not officially proclaimed that I am following the SCD, but I think I am. The thing is, I am following it with some minor 'illegals'. The main thing I will not give up are my vitamins. I just simply can not afford to throw them out and buy SCD legal ones. All of my vitamins are gluten free and don't seem to hurt me. When I run out, then I will buy SCD vitamins. Other than that, I am pretty much following the diet. I seem to be doing well on the goat yogurt and am not eating very much almond flour yet. I am also trying to eat more fruit this time compared to the last attempt to follow the diet. I got really tired last time on the diet because I don't think I was eating enough legal carbs. I have also added honey into my diet instead of using stevia. I found local honey at my health food store yesterday for a decent price.
So far, I have seen a little improvement in my stomach issues. It's really too soon to know if that is from the diet or the medicine the Dr. put me on. I have had some pain and 'D' this weekend though. I have not been quiet right since having the small bowel follow through on Friday. I drank the nasty Barium and the nurse said she would be back to get me in 30 minutes to take the first x-ray. The first x-ray was to see where the barium was in my system. Problem was, in 20 minutes, I was already running the the bathroom. In other words, it went straight through me! I read online that this test could take up to 4 hours and it went through me in 20 minutes. Wow! I haven't heard from the Dr. with results yet but that just doesn't seem normal to me.

Here's what I've eaten today:

Breakfast: goat yogurt smoothie w/ banana & peanut butter
Snack: trail mix(homemade)
Lunch: veggie fritatta, sugar snap peas
Snack: celery w/ farmer's cheese & raisins
Dinner: will probably have a salad w/ chicken or tuna
