what is the disease that causes hardening of the lungs and you basically smother?

my dad has a disease that causes hardening of the lungs and he is now saying that he is going to die. he was diagnosed with it about 2 years ago, and i was wanting to look up some information about this online. he is getting worse as the days pass. if you could please help me with this i would be very greatful.

Hi Haley,

I am sorry to hear about your Dad. I think the name you are looking for is pulmonary fibrosis. The lung tissue becomes scarred or hardened making breathing difficult. There is no known cure. Here is the link to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation http://pulmonaryfibrosis.org/. It has a good description of the disease and the research being done on it.
