what is a "blood tumor?"

Posted by oneof11

My Grandmother, age 92, has suffered several falls in the past 6 months, was hospitalized for pneumonia and then for a more serious fall.  The doctors say she is generally pretty healthy (heart and lungs are strong) but she has a blood tumor in her abdomen.  What is this?  I've heard it can kill but is there a way to prevent bursting?  I live in a distant state so am not part of her doctor's appointments so can't ask them.

A blood tumour refers to a cancerous growth within the blood and it is characterised by the release of a specific protein that can be diagnosed through blood marker tests. A blood tumour can lead to cancer of the breast or ovaries.
