Hi Jennifer,

Lasix is used by doctors to treat fluid retention in people with congestive heart failure, liver problems, kidney problems and sometimes high blood pressure.

My Dad was prescribed Lasix for swelling in his legs. It a a powerful medication but causes a number of side effects so he never wanted to take it. A complete description of possible side effects is listed on drugs.com.

When my father stopped taking the Lasix, the swelling in his legs would return. He also had problems with electrolyte imbalance.

You should consult with your doctor before stopping any medication.

Best to you,
