swlloen glands,bad breath ,swollen gums and headache

my son is 12 years old and has swlloen glands on his neck,horrible breath,headache and really swollen gums but no fever. the doctor said he does not have streap throat;that it is probably a virus. that was 3 days ago and he still isn't feeling any better....... any ideas

Hi Glo,

I would phone the doctor and ask for the doctor's opinion on this. But, if your intuition is telling you that your son has a real problem, ask that the doctor look at your son again.

When my son has that really bad breath, it usually means my son has a sinus infection. But, your son may have something else. Sinus infections can be bacterial or viral. So, antibiotics are not always appropriate.
