Last Tuesday, Katie Stevens sang Let It Be on American Idol. The song has special meaning for Katie, her grandmother suffers from Alzheimer's disease. Katie sang with great emotion and this came out loud and clear to the judges and the people in the audience.
As I watched on television I could hear and see the special feeling. I felt at the time that the performance was very emotional.
Judge Simon Cowell commented that it "felt to me that you were singing about somebody". Cowell knows that Katie's grandma suffers from Alzheimer's.
Back in February, I wrote an article on this blog entitled Let It Be, so I was very pleased by Katie's song selection. Let It Be has special meaning for many Alzheimer's caregivers.
On the Wednesday night, Katie did mention on the show that her grandmother suffers from Alzheimer's disease. This explained to the audience the motive behind her song selection.
Here is the unedited version of her performance that includes an interview, her performance, and the judges review of her effort.
