Yes, some doctors are prescribing too many drugs or not closely monitoring the medications that an elderly person is taking. My Dad was on 11 different prescriptions in the last year of his life.
One was inappropriate for people who have bleeding problems but they gave it to my dad anyway. It caused purpura - huge bruises on his arms. Finally I got the doctor to pay attention and stop that drug. My Dad's arms totally cleared up!
It pays to know what medications your love one has been prescribed and understand the side effects.

This video is well worth watching. Have you checked to see which drugs your loved one is taking? Too many drugs or mixing the wrong drugs is a big problem. Most people tend to trust their personal physician and sometimes this is a mistake. You really do need to conduct a review of the prescribed drug mix from time to time. You also need to be certain that your elderly relative is taken their drugs as prescribed.
