Hello what would be the life conditions of chronic interstial fibrosis?

Well the ladys husband i live with went to the hospital lastnight because he passed out and they said he had chronic interstial fibrosis and we were just wanting to know what the conditions are, like... is he going to keep passing out more offten or something? hes old maybe like his late 70's.

Hi,

In simple terms, chronic interstitial fibrosis means that there is scarring in the lungs. The lungs can't get enough oxygen into the body. Main symptoms are shortness of breath, coughing, not being able to exercise for any length of time.

The scarring can be caused by infections or environment (like asbestos). Sometimes the doctor can't figure out what caused it.

Treatment options are limited. Depending on what caused the scarring, it can get worse. So, yes this is very serious.
