In Delray Beach, Florida they get it. They care. They understand persons suffering from Alzheimer's are likely to wander.

Statistics show that 60 percent, over 3 million, Alzheimer's sufferers are likely to wander.

It won't cost you 50 bucks to sign up and get into the system. You won't have to pay 25 bucks a year to keep the service active.

All you will need to do, if you live in Delray Beach, is go down to the Delray Beach police station, get registered and get a picture taken.
"We're building a databank of photographs and information," said John Evans, a sergeant with the Delray Beach Police.
Is this a perfect solution? No. It certainly is better than no solution.

The price is right and it shows the problem is being recognized here in Palm Beach county.

A special note of thanks and gratitude to the Volen Center in Boca Raton, Florida.
"I had been thinking about it for a long time, that we need a database to be able to save lives," said Laura Panizza, the director of adult day-care for the Mae Volen Senior Center.
My kinda town -- Delray Beach. Before I forget -- also my town.

Have this service in your town? If not, why not suggest this to your local police department?
