Last night was a very long night. A little after 11 PM I heard Gladys in a small, frail voice calling for me. She was disoriented and did not feel well. Long story short, we called the paramedics and went to the hospital. It turns out that she had a little seizure and also had a kidney infection.
The doctor at the hospital gave her mega doses of dilantin and prescriptions for an antibiotic and a different dosage of dilantin.
This was my first emergency as Gladys' caregiver and I think I handled it pretty well. I don't always know what to do but I am not one to panic either. It was a long night, we got back home about 4:30 AM and I got a few hours of sleep before it was time to start all over.
