why do some bone scans show white spots and others show black spots, what is the difference between the two?

I had a bone scan today due to having kidney cancer and I saw that there were white spots on the scan, and then when I was surfing bone scan results I noticed that some of the photos I saw had black spots. What is the difference between white spots and black spots?
