A couple of weeks ago I informed co-workers I was going to be gone for awhile. They asked me, "Where are you going?" Not some exotic location like Hawaii or the Caribbean. "We're going on staycation!," I told them. Urban Dictionary defines staycation as "Staying at home during your vacation instead of traveling to a pleasure destination. This can be caused by high gas prices, or just a shortage of money." Yep. That's us. But you know what? I give thanks for our staycation. Ron has felt good, the weather has been great and we have had a lot of fun!
Monday- We packed a picnic and went to Deception Pass State Park. We set up our camp at Cranberry Lake where we could watch people, boats and ducks. Our daughter N. and her friend enjoyed a swim.
Tuesday- We went on another picnic. This time we headed to the south end of the island to Double Bluff Beach. We took along our dog- afterall, it's his staycation, too. You can see Ron's pictures at Wild about Whidbey.
Wednesday- Today we spent a much needed day at home! Shopping, cleaning and relaxing.
Thursday- We are going for a drive in the country. We'll engage in our favorite hobbies: Photography (Ron) and birdwatching (me). Then we'll purchase local produce from a fruit stand.
Friday- Ron and I will go out to dinner to celebrate our 27th Anniversary. Later, our daughter C. will arrive to spend the weekend with us. It will be great to have the family together again.
