My morning alarm is set to the radio – although why I think the sound of politicians bellowing at belligerent interviewers, or vice versa, is a good way to wake up, I have no idea. So I was woken by the news headlines.
One was rather cheering for a person who really doesn’t want anyone to have cancer, ever again: a massive investment in mapping the genomes of cancer patients in order to better understand the disease, and the patient, and help develop new and appropriate treatments. The story is here . I managed a little smile, even though I hadn’t even decided whether I was awake or not yet.
And the next headline was all about a cut in funding for clinical networks which oversee, among other things, cancer provision. That story is here.
I pulled the duvet over my head and wished I was still dreaming. Until I remembered a part of my dream which involved someone telling me that the part of their job they didn’t like was ‘nipping out people’s tongues’.
I’ll be honest. I’ve had better starts to the week….!
