The Trick this morning was Jay's spinal tap, but moments before we got spooked. After reviewing the CBC, our Nurse Practitioner told us that his counts came back surprising low: ANC 0.9, HGB 8.0, and PLT 80k. Our jaws dropped. A few minutes later she returned telling us that she had another patient's counts. We all sighed in relief when she showed us the correct one. With Jay's strong counts, everything continued as planned: spinal tap, methotrexate, vincristine, decadron, and Trick or Treating.
Jay was in great spirits and energy this morning. He came out of his anesthesia at record time and seemed to shake off the grogginess he usually experienced. After a quick bite, he joined the Halloween festivities. This time he brought a bigger bag. All the kids had a hard time carrying the loads of treats.
