Thankful Verse, Thankful Memories

Posted Oct 27 2010 12:00am
For Thankful Thursday this week, Lynn, the October host, asked us to share a bible verse that has special meaning for us. I knew immediately what to post.
I lift up my eyes to the hills- Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
~ Psalm 121:1-2
Photo of Mt. Rainier, elevation 14, 410 feetTaken by Ron Psalm 121 was also my father's favorite Psalm. We recited it at his funeral. A picture of Mt. Rainer, similiar to the one Ron took, graced the cover of his funeral program. On it was verses 1 and 2. I still carry it in my bible today. It makes me happy. I grew up at Mt. Rainier, where my family had a summer home.  My introduction to the outdoors included walking amongst wildflowers, listening to the whistle of marmots, climbing over moss-strewn logs, and playing hide and go seek in tall ferns; fishing for trout and sharing my picnic lunch with chipmunks, catching a glimpse of elk and watching bats fly around at night. Years later, I met Ron who shares my passion for nature and love for the Lord. We have many happy memories of times spent in the mountains... camping, hiking, snowshoeing, skiing and mountain biking. Although age and health has slowed us down, we still get out and enjoy nature. Ron loves taking photos and I enjoy whale and birdwatching. Our picnic basket is usally in tow.We know where our help comes from! It comes from the Lord. He created the world we so love. Time and time again, He has revealed His faithfulness to us. We can depend on Him! Just like the mountains remain standing- God is there in our time of need.  Thanks for stopping by! Please visit  Word Filled Wednesday and   Thankful Thursdays . You'll be glad you did!
