On Tuesday I had to go to my G.P to have my 32 staples removed from my incision. Thought it was quite bizarre Neuro chose to use 32 staples, as I will be 32 in July!
You wouldn't read about it...it didn't hurt at all! Well, maybe 1 of them...but that was it. I kept asking him have you started yet? and he had already half of them out!
I have had really bad headaches so have been living on panadol alot! I am hoping that will taper off and I will soon be able to cope. I am only having 1 sleep per day as I found I was having trouble sleeping at night if I slept any more than once per day.
Woke up last night thinking I had just a dribble patch on my pillow...eek! but then I realised I couldn't have possibly dribbled that much, I turned the light on to realise it was blood coming out of my wound! My pillow was ruined! So at 4.30am found myself showering all the blood out of my hair. As the blood looks quite dark, I am assuming that it is old blood from surgery, not fresh!?? I applied pressure to the area and it was soon controlled. If it continues too much I guess I will have to call the Neurosurgeon to see if he thinks it is okay.
Even though Violet has had 2 brain surgeries so far, I thought I knew all there was to know about how she felt after surgery etc but seems I didn't really have much of an idea at all. It's full on! I have a whole new outlook on life in general. I know for sure how much more extra, extra care I will be giving her on top of what I normally would for her future operations.
So, here are a couple of progress photos of my head now the staples are out:
