St. Jude CRH Researcher Honored

Posted Dec 23 2009 7:19am
A St. Jude Children's Research Hospital doctor, Charles Sherr M.D., Ph.D. who is c0-chair of Genetics and Tumor Cell Biology, has been named a 2009 Fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

The work for which Dr. Sherr is being honored includes research into tumor suppressor genes and their function. I cannot even aspire to a comprehensive understanding of the science involved, but I see numerous scientific research papers dedicated to Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumors citing Dr. Sherr's work regarding cyclin D1 (an important DNA-driven component in AT/RT).

With one family's voice (hopefully echoed by others), I would like to thank Dr. Sherr, St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, and all of the other scientists, doctor, researchers, study volunteers and others who have participated in the fight against Rhabdoid tumors.
