Jay's second spinal tap of the year went smoothly this morning and his counts remain very strong. He got his usual triple dose of chemo in his spine and vincristine through his port. Today he begins the dreaded decadron for the week. Below are some notes in his chart that explains his procedure today: Diagnosis : Leukemia Description of Procedure: Place needle into spinal canal to remove fluid for study and to give chemotherapy into the spine. Give intravenous medicine to make patient sleep during procedure. Technical Name of Procedure: Lumbar puncture with intrathecal chemotherapy under deep sedation. |
