Side Effects of Avastin and Xeloda

As I mentioned before, the "honeymoon's over." Ron is now experiencing the following side effects from Xeloda and Avastin

• Hand and Foot Syndrome
• Raspy Voice
• Chemo Brain (Brain Fog)
• Headaches- severe enough to wake him up at night

These side effects are worth it, though. Ron's latest CAT scan shows that the tumors are shrinking!!!
Remedies:
Ron uses Aquaphor lotion for the skin peeling on his hands and feet. He tried Udder Cream and Bag Balm but they don't seem to work as well for him. The doctor also has him on Celebrex. For the problem with his voice, there is not much he can do. It seems to come and go. One thing we might try is sugarfree hard candy to suck on, as it could be the result of dry mouth. Ron is using sticky notes to help him remember things. We also give him a lot of verbal cues. For headache, Ron takes Tylenol. Today the doctor prescribed Oxycodone for him to take when the pain is severe. He is looking forward to a good night's sleep!
