The Survivor Lap at Relay For Life, yesterday, was emotional and encouraging. Loving people, friends, family and relatives lined the pathway as I and many other cancer survivors walked around it. Their smiling faces, cheers and applause conveyed that they were there for us, encouraging us onward and letting us know that they support us. Wow, that gives me feelings of overwhelming joy and love. This is the third time that I have walked that Survivor Lap and it is the first time my eyes weren’t filled with tears of joy by the first turn. I did get choked up, but I was able to keep from crying. I am a grown man and I’m tough!
Many people have walked that path before me. Many of the illuminated bags that line the pathway serve as a reminder of those who have finished walking their pathways. The lesson in Our Daily Bread today reminds me that I’m not alone on this pathway of life.
God bless you all and thank you for your loving support.
