my mom has breast cancer which has spread through out her body. now she has bad bloating in her stomach what does that mean?

she has alot of stomach pain and bloating but she does not have the need to use the restroom or anything, so what does that mean? is it the cancer getting to her stomach? should my family be prepared for the worst?
