Well, the anticipated risk of sedation came to fruition.
Vivienne's oxygen saturation dropped precipitously during the sedated scan. Although they made an attempt to quickly complete the scan to avoid intubation, the drop in sats required a breathing tube to be inserted. At the completion of the scan, when trying to lighten the sedation and gradually wake Vivienne up, this would cause her airway to constrict making it difficult to ensure she had enough oxygen.
At this point, she is being transferred to ICU and ventilator-dependant. They are hopeful that they can get the tube out within a matter of hours, but it may take a day or so. She is stable.
All I know in terms of scan results is that there was fluid in her lungs and abdomen. I will update again when I know more.
