My blood test was better today. I still have a couple of pesky H’s and L’s present in the results, but the numbers are barely out of tolerance. So my blood test is almost normal.
I have continuing mild GVHD in my skin and mouth. This is not much of a problem. I rub on Clobetasol Propionate Cream on my neck, shoulders and chest and Hydrocortisone Cream on my face. They prescribed Dexamethasone Oral Solution for swishing around in my mouth.
The GVHD in my skin shows up as red blotchy spots. My face looks like I’m going through puberty again. I didn’t have this bad of skin when I did go through puberty. I was lucky then and had a pretty clean complexion. Looks like I’m making up for that now.
The GVHD in my mouth manifests itself in white patches on the sides and up under my upper lip. They reduced my steroid pills to every other day. (Methylprednisolone 8 mg) I have to let them know if there are any differences between days with or without these steroid pills.
The next steps should be to reduce down steroids to 4 mg every other day and then to none at all.
Once I’m off the steroid pills all together, I should also be reduced to doctor visits every other week. Taking the ride to Ann Arbor once a month sounds much better to me.
Kim & I left the house at 5:15 AM to make it on time to my morning appointments at the U of M, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
