lung scar - Cancer or tuberculosis?

My mom found out that she has a scar on her lungs. Her doctor said it could either be cancer or tuberculosis. It's still unidentified though. She has to go through some more tests. Anyway, she used to be a chain smoker and cancer actually runs in the blood. I'd like to know whether it is cancer or tuberculosis. Which has the bigger possibility? And what causes this & how can we cure that scar in her lungs?
