Lump on inner ankle above ankle bone, painful at first and now not painful

Posted by dantescritic

About two to three weeks ago I began to have a pain just above the bone that protrudes out of the ankle.  The inner ankle, not the outer part.  The pain has developed into a small lump, it no longer hurts however I am wondering if I could have something serious.  I am 20, and wondering what it could be.  I went to my General Doctor and he felt around, though he looked a bit worried.  He said he thought it was a ganglion although it was a very strange spot to a ganglion being formed.  What is the worst case scenario here?

Can someone please answer!?  The doctor said he thinks nothing to worry about, but for piece of mind to go to the Orthopedic Surgeon.
