Journey of the Week: Susie81610

Posted Feb 10 2012 11:52am
Susie81601If you've been on WhatNext for any amount of time, chances are high that you've connected with Susie81610 . An esophagael cancer fighter, Susie provides important insight and meaningful support to those who need it. She has been such a WhatNext rock star, that she is in the WhatNext Top 3 of most active contributors. Thanks, Susie for all you do!

WN: What has surprised you the most about your cancer journey so far?

The fact that I'm still here after I've been told several times that I probably wouldn't make it past my 13 1/2 hour surgery. I was also surprised with the amount of love and support that I receive from the Huron Valley Hospital Cancer Center on a daily basis.

WN:How has connecting with others going through similar experiences either made a difference?
I haven't connected with anyone until recently but have become rather close with a couple of different people whom all have different types of cancers due to the rarity of my type, especially in a female.

WN: What are your hobbies and/or interests?
Helping others and spending time with my family and friends. I also like to spend most of my days outside if the weather is nice enough.

WN: Favorite guilt pleasure song- the one you like to sing more than any other?
Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day due to the loss of my parents and being diagnosed with esophagus cancer in such a short period of time.
