Is Prostate Cancer Coaching or Other Health Coaching for You?

Posted Feb 26 2010 12:00am

After all you've been through as a prostate cancer patient or survivor, would you benefit from getting health coaching?  Often the answer is a resounding, "No!", because you're adapting just fine.

But some folks, including men and their wives or partners, continue to have difficulty coping with prostate-related stress or pain. Prostate cancer and its treatment side effects sometimes lead to seemingly irresolvable intimacy issues or difficulty accepting even minor incontinence.

If a doctor or support group is not available, perhaps a patient healthcare coach, whether myself or someone else, could be of help. I offer a 20 minute complimentary initial assessment without obligation. If interested, free free to contact me at the email posted on this blog.

On the other hand, many of you have made such progress since your prostate cancer treatment that you ought to consider becoming a health coach! You've been through the mill, but learned a lot from your experiences, shared them with others, and perhaps even been featured in your local newspaper. Why not go to the next level, especially if you feel you can offer others guidance born out of your own personal experience!

Who you are and what you've undergone, in some instances coupled with your professional background, may have already put you in a better place, compared to how things were before your prostate cancer and treatment side effects you've endured. If so, health coaching may be in your future. This may well be the case, especially if you've managed to incorporate some of the research and other nuggets gleaned from Conquer Prostate Cancer, - the book as well as the blog?!?

Within the year of becoming a prostate cancer surgery survivor, I became a health coach and a patient healthcare educator, and perhaps it's something that you might want to do yourself. These pursuits evolved while I was in the middle of writing my book and ever since it was published.

As a health coach I was particularly gratified to get a special email a few weeks ago as I described in a previous post. At that time a representative of the Hilton Johnson HealthCoach Training Institute in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida,, invited me to present a 55 minute teleseminar.

The topic I selected is " How Patients Can Become Active Members of Their Healthcare Team." This session will be of particular value to prostate and breast cancer patients, as well as their health coaches who strive to empower them.

My complimentary health coaching teleseminar will take place three weeks from now on Monday March 15th at 9:00 pm. As we draw closer to that date I’ll provide the access phone number and code so you can “listen in”!

In addition, for those of you who might want to consider health coaching, I’m pleased to inform you that I’ve arranged to have you attend another special complimentary Health Coach Business teleconference call five to twelve days before my teleclass. If you missed Hilton Johnson's presentation this month, you'll benefit by setting aside March 3 or 10 to "meet" with him. He's the CEO of HealthCoachingU.com and HealthCoachTraining.com.

The event will take place at the following times and websites

-Wednesday, March 3rd at 2:00 pm ET (New York Time) - www.globalteleclass.com/specialhc155f.

-Wednesday, March 10th at 2:00 pm ET (New York Time) - www.globalteleclass.com/specialhc156a.

In either of these 90-minute call, Hilton will demonstrate (with a volunteer) one of his company’s health coaching models to show you how easily health coaching gets results. You will also see, on your computer screen, a unique web-based platform that allows health coaches to manage and professionally coach hundreds of clients at the same time.

HealthCoaching is the fastest growing niche market of all coaching and presents multiple opportunities for contributing to some of the proposed improvements being discussed today in health care reform. Coaches are also paid very well. They earn an average of over $190 per hour coaching individual clients and some coaches who are conducting group coaching sessions are earning far more than that.

During this call, Hilton will explain how you might meet the requirements for being trained and certified as a HealthCoach and start earning coaching fees in as little as 90-days.

If you would like to attend this timely and important event, you will need to be on your telephone and your computer at the same time as this is a teleconference and webinar presentation.

To register for this teleconference/webinar event, click on one of the links above or copy and paste either link into your browser. Be sure to complete the entire process so you can receive the e-mail confirmation and instructions for calling in.

As a bone fide "trekkie" I'd like to conclude by saying, "Live long and prosper!"
