inguinal lymph node cancer

I was just told I have a few inguinal lymph in both sides of my groin. This was found through a ct of the abdomen and lower extremites. I was told to come back in two to three weeks for an untrosound. Why would I wate for the next test? ANd could this be cancer? If so how bad could it be?
