Presence of blood in urine after prostate biopsy is not unusual. It could take up to one month for the blood in semen to resolve. Depending on the patient and the number of biopsy specimens (10 to 14 compared to the usual 6) obtained it could take even longer for the blood to be all gone. Even though infection is possible, it is rare since the use of prophylactic (preventive) antibiotics, which you hopefully received. The usual signs/symptoms of infection may include fever, chills, burning and frequent urination, discolored/turbid and foul smelling urine, etc. If you do have any symptoms you must contact your doctor
In the absence of symptoms such as above and no other problems, the mere discolored semen is to be expected following prostate biopsy. The dark red color will gradually change to brown overtime until it is all gone.
