HEALTH CARE REFORM vs. BAND-AID

Posted Sep 09 2009 12:00am
" I still believe we can do great things, and that here and now we will meet history's test. Because that is who we are. That is our calling. That is our character."
~ President Obama's closing remarks tonight
If Washington passes a Health Care Reform Bill, it will be a GREAT thing. But, I have my doubts.... There are too many lobbyists on Capitol Hill and some leaders just want to take a band-aid approach. According to the White House, President Barack Obama’s health care proposal would • Allow Americans to keep their current coverage if they wish.
• Create an “insurance exchange” that would allow individuals and small businesses to bargain for insurance collectively.
• Bar insurance companies from denying coverage because of a pre-existing condition.
• Prohibit annual and lifetime caps on the coverage recipients can receive.
• Impose limits on out-of-pocket expenses.
• Require free coverage for routine checkups and preventive care.
Sounds good to me! However, the the ten year plan to reform health care will cost $900 billion dollars (source: MSNBC). Yikes! And how many trillion dollars in debt is our country? Do we even want to know?!?
