I’ve never had a remission day before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
I din’t expect to walk around all day with hat I can only describe as a birthday feeling: walking around, doing my job, everything looking normal on the outside but on the inside something fizzing and bubbling away al the time.
I didn’t expect that my children in league with my friends would plan a surprise dinner.
(I’ve been lucky enough to eat the host’s cooking before, so I did expect the food to be wonderful, and it didn’t disappoint.)
I didn’t expect to have a tiara to wear, but I rather liked it, and may incorporate it into my wardrobe on a more regular basis.
I didn’t expect a cake.
I did expect to feel proud, and happy, and emotional, and I did.
Thank you Ned, Joy, Jurgen, Lesley, Sazan, Khaled, Augustine, for making an evening I will never, ever forget.
Thank you, the rest of you, for all of the emails and tweets and comments and good wishes. I woke up on remission day feeling lucky; I went to bed feeling blessed.
