According to Medwire, family practice guidelines on prostate cancer risk management in the UK have “failed to influence PSA referrals” of patients to urologists for appropriate work up.
Medwire is also reporting that in Sweden, “Men are most likely to seek early medical help for prostate symptoms if they have access to health information from the internet and their doctor,” and that the “self-employed may be most likely to seek help for prostate cancer symptoms.”
Finally, a HealthDay report from the Experimental Biology 2008 meeting in San Diego suggests that “monocyte-like cells stimulate prostate cancer” through a gene-regulating transcription factor called NFκB (nuclear factor kappa B) that’s able to stimulate gene activity.
