Richard had the renal biopsy on December 20, 2005. After that crisis, we started to think about Christmas. We were prepared to spend Christmas in Rochester at the luxurious Riverview Suites, but then Richard's doctor began to talk about the possibility of going home to Iowa for a couple days.
Luckily there were no more crises and we got to go home. We were surprised to see that our daughters had put up Christmas lights on the house and had decorated a tree inside the house. It was so great to sleep in our own bed! I think it really meant a lot to Richard to be home for Christmas. He wasn't really sure if he would celebrate another one.
Pictured are our daughter Erin and her boyfriend Jeff, our other daughter Emily and her husband Justin and their son Grady at age 6 months. Then there's Richard who is skinny and bald, and me with a poinsettia growing out of my head!
We did our traditional family Christmas thing at my sister's house.
