When is a person said to be cured of cancer? It is not an exact science. "Some people think that remission means the cancer has been cured, but this is not always the case," reports the American Cancer Society. "Remission is a period of time when the cancer is responding to treatment or is under control. Remissions can last anywhere from several weeks to many years. Complete remissions may go on for years and over time be considered cures. If the disease returns, another remission may be possible with further treatment." Ron is in remission for the second time. What lies ahead on the "road" is unclear. Ron will have a PET scan in late August. Until then, we will hope; we will pray. We will wait; we will see.
