My husband was just diagnosed with mucinous adenocarcinoma of the abdomen with unknown primary. The surgeon removed a large tumor that was pressing into his colon. The surgeon thinks it is pancreatic or lung, the gastroenterologist thinks it is pancreatic or other digestive organ.
Regardless, he is in severe pain, gets some relief from dilauded, but has a good bit of breakthrough pain. We're waiting to get in to see an oncologist and pain specialist. He has lost just under 60 pounds in 2 1/2 months. Can't force himself to eat, I'm fixing instant breakfast shakes with ice cream for him 3-4 times a day. He is unable to lay flat, spends all his time in his recliner. Is there anything I can do to ease the pain for him? It ranges from 5-8 with med, 8-9 without, is in abdomen/lower back, both sides, but area where tumor was (rt side) is most painful. He's using a heating pad for his back.
