I have a 9-cm oblong mass in left mid back at the bottom of my clavicle/rib cage. I noticed it about two months ago, but it has been pretty painful (with decreases and increases in pain) at times. I always know that it is there with some kind of pain. When first noticed, it was bluish in color (resembling a bruise) with some spider veins, which have now disappeared. However the mass is still present. Is this something you hear about in people who are first diagnosed with cancer of some kind? What could this mass be, and from your experience, do the symptoms sound benign or something to worry about? I also had an 8-pound weight loss in the past 3 weeks, which is very unusual for me.
