Blood, Platelets, G Shot and Chemo - Oh My!

Posted Dec 20 2008 7:14pm
Vivienne endured a marathon trip to the medicine room last night. She received:
  • Chemotherapy - A vincristine push (15 minutes)
  • G-CSF (30 minutes)
  • Blood transfusion (more than 2 hours)
  • Platelet transfusion (one hour and 3o minutes)
The payoff is that all of this will truly help her to feel better. She is currently neutropenic in her nadir, with an ANC of zero. Getting the blood and platelets tend to make her a bit sick to her stomach for the first day (but not too badly), and afterwards really perk her up and give her more energy back.

NOT THAT SHE NEEDS ANY MORE ENERGY!

We have lots to talk about in the next few days - we received a surprise from Santa's helpers yesterday, and Julie (Julie!) is coming tomorrow (did I mention Julie?!??!?! Is coming!!!).

JULIE IS COMING!
