Richard had his Mayo appointment on July 28. His m-spike was essentially the same after one cycle of his unconventional chemo regimen of melphalan, prednisone, and Velcade. Here are the numbers: Although the m-spike is essentially unchanged, the kappa free light chains are significantly lower. As I understand it, this is an indication that abnormal protein production is reduced because fewer light chains are present in the blood. Eventually this will be reflected in a lower m-spike.
There is an excellent explanation of freelite testing here.
