Today I had my swallow test. Rachel my therapist was really nice. I Really enjoyed working with the whole team! I had to try a few different textures and consistancies of foods and liquid mixed with barium while they whated it go down through my mouth & throat on an x-ray machine. Ok, how cool is that! She said I only had 1 time I had a little issue with straight liquids (IE water) she said it was nothing to worry about. I will be going for treatment 3 times a week, 45 min each session. My days are looking longer and longer. Sessions will consist of testing and exercises to keep my swallowing in working fashion.
I haven't really wrote much about the surgery on Thursday. Yes, it was a lot more than I expected. For some reason I thought it would be easy breezy. They had a hard time placing the port on the left side. I assume my veins blew because prior surgery.l..but here is where they attempted it. There are tons of needle sticks I am guessing around 20 attempts. This is my actual port... As far as the PEG tube...I am still in some pain. Luckily the Perkocets have been helping a lot now that I have the timing down. Everything looks good other than some swelling and bruising...but no redness around tube. I did have some majoy leakage this morning & was totally grossed out. I hope that is not an everyday thing...And am praying the pain goes away. Very Very soon.
I have my final appointment before treatment starts with team Slavik tomorrow. So I will be asking lots of questions about Chemo tomorrow. I am also going to get my impressions for my flouride. I think there will only be another appointment or two before starting treatments! Almost there!
