A Call For GVHD Prevension Research

Posted Jun 16 2010 10:32am

This beautiful young woman is Christy Novak.  She was diagnosed with leukemia in 2009.  She went through chemotherapy and had a bone marrow transplant (BMT) as part of her treatment.  From her last blog entry I can tell that the leukemia was still in remission and that she had successfully made it to +100 days post BMT.

Sadly though, I was informed by her mother, via e-mail, that she went to be with our Lord and Savior on on February 14, 2010, due to Graft Verses Host Disease (GVHD).

She fought a long and courageous battle against AML and GVHD.  She possessed and demonstrated character and strength. Her mother told me that
"anyone who met her immediately knew they were in the company of someone very special.  She is a gentle and caring soul."

Her mother loves and misses her very much.

Please remember Christy's family in your prayers.

How about a fund raising effort to honor Christy's memory and provide for GVHD prevention research?  Please think about that idea and let us know if you come up with something.

I never met Christy, in this life, but I look forward to seeing her in heaven someday.
