world of wild life viewing online

Posted Feb 05 2012 12:51am

Last year in April I discovered a world of wild life at my fingertips. Well, here on the computer. Ever since I began following the panda cams at the San Diego Zoo, the National Zoo and the panda reserve in China, I started looking for opportunities online to view the amazing world of wild life. And, I have not been disappointed. I have my favorite sites, and, in fact, have become a big fan of the bald eagle. I started watching nests last year in April, and I am back at it early this year so I can see the entire show from the eagle pair’s courtship to the eggs to the eaglets to their fledge from the nest. I am not alone; already at one of the sites I watch, this year we have seen already five thousand viewers online while we await the arrival of the first egg.

I can recommend these sites for more than one reason. Whether you love wild lifeand you might but do not yet realize itor not, you might want to check  out some of the live streaming. One of the sites I visit a lot is the Sportsmans Paradise Online, which hosts not only the Ustream live video of many web cams all over the world, they include chat rooms that invite sharing of conversation and information. Even when some of the sites have little action, the sounds of the wilderness are incredibly relaxing, especially to us urban dwellers who hear sirens and car alarms and welcome bird calls and the sounds of animals on the African reserves.

Take a look at some of them, maybe lurking a while, or use your Facebook or Twitter account to log on and join in the conversation as you wish. Some days I just want to watch the eagles or the elephants at the watering hole or the owls or the hummingbirds. Other days I enjoy finding new information to share about the different animals or birds. Maybe I will see you there.

Here is a list from SPO.
