Calcifications can be a pre-cursor to cancer. Your doctor may choose to biopsy them.
I'm sorry I didn't specifically answer your question. I don't believe calcifcations can hide a mass. They may be 'normal' tissue that your doctor will just want to watch in future mammograms.
