Would you fill out a survery about your health and give it to the marketing department of GlaxoSmithKline? Probably not. But if it were presented by Dr. Oz (of Oprah fame) as a tool to show you how you could improve your health, you just might not read all of the fine print.
The New York Times has a damning article about the online age quiz Real Age that lots of people have taken. Myself, I've looked at it but decided not to take it because I was afraid it would tell me I'm dead.
Turns out it won't tell me I'm dead. Instead it will sell all of the information I have shared to the pharmaceutical industry so that they can try to sell me medications.
What they are doing is completely legal, it just feels really sleazy to me. What do you think?
