Welcome to my new blog and my very first post! OK, I admit I’m a little nervous, but excited too.

Enough about me, let’s talk about this blog and why it’s here. Miracle Survivors is not just for survivors; but anyone who has been touched by cancer. Considering there’s more than 11.1 million cancer survivors living in the US and counting family and friends … well, we’re talking about just about everyone!

Even if cancer is not on your radar screen, this blog is meant to provide something we all need these days: inspiration. I certainly needed it in Feb. ‘08 when I had a recurrence of breast cancer that spread to other parts of my body. Not good news! Luckily, I knew a couple of people who had similar diagnoses and were doing really well. That developed into finding other “miracle survivors” from around the country and compiling them into a book I’m calling From Incurable to Incredible: Cancer Survivors Who Beat the Odds. Right now I’m seeking an agent so I can get this baby published!

This blog will share parts of these stories from the book and offer information on keeping healthy in mind, body and spirit and promising developments on the cancer front that come my way. I’m hoping to have some guest blog posts from experts and podcasts with miracle survivors. Most of all, I’m hoping to find other “miracle survivors” for my book and/or to share with others on this blog. So if you are out there or know someone else, please let me know!

I want this to be interactive, so please feel free to comment and share your own experiences. As Doug Ulman, president and CEO of the Lance Armstrong Foundation says, ”When people ask about advocacy and volunteering, I tell them, ‘If all you do is share your story, you are doing a lot. It is such a powerful testimony.’ Sharing your experience is almost always therapeutic for you, and its benefits are long-lasting and far-ranging.”

I look forward to sharing stories and hearing from you!
