ten radiation sessions

Posted Feb 09 2012 12:41am

The calibration is complete, and my radiation oncologist has scheduled me for ten sessions. I will receive two beams from either side of the body to the five top thoracic vertebrae: T1 through T5. The intent is to put a halt on the activity and to alleviate the pain that seems to be increasing. Between the pain, which is strongest at night, and the overall discomfort, especially in my left leg, which starts to ache and to feel like restless leg syndrome, which gets stronger and stronger through the night, making it hard to relax and to keep it still. Pain medication does not seem to affect that at all.

Tomorrow will be another busy day at UCIMC with radiation followed by an ultrasound of my kidneys and some more blood tests. At the rate we are going, my veins should be going dry.
