When I married my husband, I was getting more than a wonderful guy; I received the bonus of his warm, caring family and friends.

I love going to visit Mike’s folks in the town of St. Marys, Ohio. Coming from the city, I have always admired how the whole town seems to know each other and pulls together.

This past weekend was no exception as we traveled  for a book signing at New Bremen Coffee and Books, a charming place just outside of St. Marys. Joining us was Denny Seewer, a St. Marys native who shared his amazing story in From Incurable to Incredible. As you may recall, Denny was told 35 years ago that he would die of Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer usually affecting children. Today he is perfectly healthy and is enjoying his wife, children, grandchildren and residents at the retirement community where he works.
A few of the local papers covered our story; one from Minster sent a reporter to interview me, Mike and Denny. The Celina paper, the Daily Standard, did a story about the book that was probably the best one I’ve read. I met a lot of interesting people and had a great time chatting with Denny about the possibility of getting everyone in the book together one day.
Denny was sure to tell each person who came up to us that they should contact me if they would like to talk with anyone in the book. I have connected people with book survivors in the past, and thought that was a great message to pass along. Everyone who contributed their stories to the book did so to help others in similar situations. If there is a story on this site or in the book that has touched you, let me know by leaving a message on the contact page of this site. I could certainly arrange for you to connect with them.
