The surgeon was very pleasantly surprised at how well my incision has healed. I have been soaking it with aloe vera gel and a special scar gel that softens and dissolves scar tissue. It was a bit swollen and there was quite a bit of fluid that had to be drained. Now I see him again in a month. In May I travel back to Sudbury for my one year check-up. When I look back, the time seems to have gone by very fast. My pain level has decreased dramatically and soon I will be off my painkillers all together. That is a day I look forward to. It's nice not to be lopsided anymore. I don't have to wear a special mastectomy bra. I am as free as the wind now with nothing underneath at all.
